Mitt Romney made what may prove to be a major league gaffe today. In response to a reporter’s question, perhaps triggered by an aggressive web ad, Romney said:
Mr. Romney: I don’t recall all the things that I said at that time, so I’d just have to go back and look at my notes at that time.
This is, of course, reminiscent of Romney’s statement that he would need to check with lawyers before defending the United States against Iran. At a time when he is falling in the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire, Romney cannot afford gaffes that emphasize his inexperience in foreign policy.
While it may be that McCain’s web ad was a little over-the-top, it appears that the Romney campaign fell for the trap, hook, line, and sinker.

Were you already drunk for New Year’s when you posted this? Again, why do you feel a need to attack Reagan and Bush (who was President on 9/11) who came to office with little foreign policy “experience”? When you’re not attacking the Romney family for supporting civil rights in the MLK era you’re ripping Republican Presidents. For shame. P.S. Why don’t you show some class and post a correction on your nutsy-McCain hit job-WW story before the NH Primary? If you work in Republican politics, your boss is an idiot.

Reagan, as President of the SAG was testifying before House Committees about Communism in 1947, 33 years before he was elected President.
He was a staunch anti-Communist warrior way before he ran for President in 1980.
They were attacking Romney for saying that he watched his Dad march with Martin Luther King. Factcheck: neither him nor his Dad were at the march.
Romney’s CLINTONIAN response to evidence that neither him nor his Dad marched with MLK:
Romney said his father had told him he had marched with King and that he had been using the word “saw” in a “figurative sense.”
“If you look at the literature, if you look at the dictionary, the term ’saw’ includes being aware of in the sense I’ve described,” Romney told reporters in Iowa. “It’s a figure of speech and very familiar, and it’s very common. And I saw my dad march with Martin Luther King. I did not see it with my own eyes, but I saw him in the sense of being aware of his participation in that great effort.”
