I have sent this idea to many but perhaps this is an appropriate forum.
Clearly, the Iraq War continues to be the most important issue in the presidential race. Hillary and her cohort’s meme, “This is Bush’s war” has great resonance (no pun intended) with a majority of Americans. It has gained such currency in the last three years that revisionists use it almost uncontested. Allowing this false premise to persist however is a recipe for failure!
President Bush’s decision to invade Iraq was made with the advice and consent of the UN, the Congress, the State Department, and the Pentagon. I propose that a concise single source Internet document be produced consisting of the empirical facts that contributed to this important decision. The document should be a chronology of facts but with extensive links providing extensive detail.
Key (not necessarily complete) attributes of the document:
ß frequently referenced title i.e. “DOC 724”
ß easily internet accessibility
ß contain only the facts known at the time (NIE etc,)
ß descriptive of the vetting process authenticating these facts
ß as much bi-partisan authentication as possible (not a RNC talking point)
To be sure the spinning will go on but revisiting and re-justifying their positions and statements, will put many of today’s ‘Monday-morning-quarterbacks’ on the defensive and take away much of their glibness. At the very least, “Doc 724” it will cut down on the ubiquitous, gratuitous slurs.
