So no bill is better than this bill. The government has to prove that it will enforce the borders. The word 'comprehensive' is just another word for amnesty and the status quo. You are right. There's no way to force the government to do something other than change the politicians and bureaucrats. Under what scenario do you see things getting better on this front? And I do not trust the government to enforce them. They aren't doing it now. If they would only enforce the laws that are now on the books, many of the illegals would leave as the jobs would dry up. That is the issue I and so many of my fellow Americans have with this bill. The government has to prove to us that it will build a fence, stop the flow first. Only after that do we want the issue of all the illegals here addressed. I am not opposed to them becoming legal. But why do they deserve citizenship? Many people live here legally, but are not citizens. And no one has addressed the issue of back taxes that these people owe. The penalties mean nothing if they are not enforced. Those are the "incentives". The short version is that the penalties on both businesses and individuals increase dramatically. I’m coming to those. Those are the “incentives”.

And when are we going to start enforcing the laws on the books such as worker verification?
